The locking plate has progressively but especially very recently become part of today's orthopaedic and traumatology surgeon's arsenal of osteosynthesis techniques. However, the concept of the locking plate itself often continues to be misunderstood and consequently even misjudged. Briefly, the locking plate behaves like an external fixator but without the disadvantages of an external system not only in the transfixion of the soft tissues, but also in terms of its mechanics and the risk for sepsis. It is actually more an “internal fixator”

Titanium bone plates of various types and specifications have been designed according to the use site and anatomical shape of the bone and considering the force size, so as to facilitate the selection and use of orthopedics surgeons. Titanium plate is made of titanium material recommended by AO, which is suitable for internal fixation of cranial-maxillofacial, clavicle, limb and pelvis fractures.

The titanium bone plate (locking bone plates) is designed to be straight, anatomical bone plates and these with different thickness and width according to different implantation sites.

Titanium bone plate (locking bone plate) is intended to be used for reconstruction and internal fixation of clavicle, limbs and irregular bone fractures or bone defects, so as to promote fracture healing. In the process of use, the locking bone plate is used in combination with the locking screw to form a stable and firm internal fixation support. The product is provided in non-sterilized packaging and intended for single use only.

In osteopenic bone or fractures with multiple fragments, secure bone purchase with conventional screws may be compromised. The locking screws do not rely on bone/plate compression to resist patient load but function similarly to multiple small angled blade plates. In osteopenic bone or multifragmentary fractures, the ability to lock screws into a fixed-angle construct is imperative. By using locking screws in a bone plate, a fixed-angle construct is created.

It’s concluded that there is a satisfactory functional outcome with the fixation of the proximal humerus fracture with locking plates. While using the plate fixation for fracture the plate position is of the utmost importance. Due to angular stability, the locking plates are the advantageous implants in case of proximal humeral fracture.
